Update: End of Day 3

Update: There is considerable doubt with regard to the fate of the GC’s at present. We will wait till we obtain confirmed information from the student representatives concerned.

The situation is fast returning to normal at the end of Day 3 here on campus. A lot of meetings have been held throughout the day; several decisions taken and reverted in real time so that we really have little concrete remaining at the end of the day. The following is a list of confirmed news that we have at present:

  1. The Gymkhana elections have been put in abeyance till further notice. Speculations are rife regarding the possible alternatives being worked out, but it would be premature to comment on any of these at present. We’ll keep you updated as and when the process is finalised.
  2. The Board of Governors Chairman Dr. Muthuraman would be arriving in campus on Friday, the 27th. The final technicalities regarding Prof. Damodar Acharya’s resignation are expected to become clear then.
  3. The promised inspection of B.C.Roy Hospital by an expert from Tata Hospital, Jamshedpur was competed on Tuesday morning. Recommendations for improvement would be submitted to the administration on the basis of this inspection.
  4. Compensatory classes would be held on Saturday, the 28th to make up for classes lost on Monday.
  5. The word document with records of all healthcare facilities outside campus is available on http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dczr5869_31cb3bvpfx This document is being continuously updated and we thank and appreciate the efforts of the student community in this direction.
  6. A representative from  the Institute was sent to assess the emergency ‘lift’ service at Kalaikunda. A team consisting of the acting Director and the Registrar along with the student representatives shall soon be inspecting the same.
  7. The condition of Gaurav Tomar has improved considerably and he is not on dialysis anymore. We wish him speedy recovery.

Please keep visiting the site as we continue to bring you updated information on the issue.

It is very heartening to read that compensatory classes would be held on Saturday, the 28th to make up for classes lost on Monday. If not for this, an IIT wouldn’t be an IIT.

  7. Steve Vai Says:

Diro had resigned on sunday, but HRD ministry needs to accept this resignation first. the HRD ministry is actually thinking of reinstating Dr. Acharya as the DIRO after the tempers cool down in the campus…

Great Job done by Scholars Ave! Keep it up!

I strongly believe that all the recommendations, all the decisions, minutes of the meetings etc should be photocopied and displayed on all hall noticeboards, institute noticeboards and department noticeboards.

There should be a box or an ID or both to which students can post their reactions. These should be taken into consideration.

    Rgds,

    Swapnil
