We had covered the genesis of the Telugu Technology Dramatics Society and explained its founding ideals in our October 26th issue last semester. It has been a good three months and we caught up with Uday, one of the governors and quizzed him about the progress the society has made so far. To mark the AP foundation day on November 1st, Kalidas took center-stage as the venue of ‘Navasamajam’ – a comedy exploring the interplay of mythological characters and present day society. January was busy too with a week-long workshop for all interested 2nd and 3rd years. At the end of the workshop, auditions were held for TTDS’s annual play – ‘Sangharshana’. Showcased on January 16th, in association with the Telugu Cultural Association, the play focused on man’s temptation and his feeble conscience. The script was borrowed from “Me against myself” written by Sandipan Chowdhury, captain of the erstwhile Patel Hall English Dramatics team. With three parallel story lines, each in a different dialect, the audience was treated to a gripping story with good triumphing over evil ultimately. Directed by Sri Nitya Anupindi and Uday himself, with support from Professor G.P Rajashekar, the play was well received by the non- Telugu populace too.
