Inter-Hall Basketball: [1st Semifinal] RK 60-33 RP

In the first semi-final, tournament favourites RK outclassed RP 60-33 with freshman Rajan Bajaj scoring a massive 23 points for the victors.

The game got off to a quick start, with RK’s Ankur Ambastha scoring first with a well taken shot. From there on, it was only RK as they ran rampant with Ankur and Rajan scoring regularly to shoot down any hopes of an upset. Girish Bhanware of RP tried to lead from the front with every positive move going through him, but he was effectively neutralized by RK’s defence – courtesy Varun Choudhary. Although Girish ended the game with a team high of 21 points, his team-mates were not as prolific in the scoring department resulting in a low score for them. On the other hand, RK continued to pound away at the other end, scoring prolifically to effectively end the game by the third quarter.

With this ruthless victory, RK remain unbeaten in the tournament, with their smallest margin of victory being 6 points (in the group-stage game against Patel).  It has only strengthened their ‘Favourites’ tag after topping a group containing five-time champions Patel and Nehru. They enter the finals knowing that they are the firm favourites, irrespective of the outcome of the other semi-final.
