2010 summer research program at UCB – Call for applications

As part of the UC Berkeley-IIT Kharagpur collaboration, applications are invited for an 8-weeks summer research program at UC Berkeley. Please submit your information by Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010. Students will be selected by Friday, Feb. 19. Additional information will be shared with selected students after that.

You will be pleased to note that a larger number of departments are now part of the program — biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, geology/geophysics, mechanical engineering, math and statistics. If students in the food and agricultural engineering have molecular biology/biochemistry expertise then would also be eligible.

Ambulance Service in Kharagpur.

The 24-hour Ambulance Service is a free-of-cost facility provided to people in need of medical aid and quick transport to nearby health-centers/ hospitals in Kharagpur and Midnapur. However, any family in need of Ambulance to take care of an ailing patient, is also welcome to avail of the Service, whenever required. This service will come as a breather to the residents of the campus and help prevent the relapse of unfortunate incidents. Please ring this number in case of an emergency.

45th Inter-IIT Championship Results

The Inter-IIT Sporting Championships turned out to be a big disappointment for Kgp as IIT Kharagpur could not manage to come in the Top 4 in either the Men’s or the Women’s categories. Kgp finished 6th in the men’s category and 5th in the women’s. For a detailed performance review, watch out for our next print issue.

Call for entries for the 4th International Short Film Festival of India 2010

The DBICA presents International Short Film Festival of India, now in its 4th year, is the largest and most highly attended short film festival in Chennai. The 2 day festival presents over 70 International and National Short films from more than 22 countries, to an audience of 42,000. SFFI is best known for its diverse and cosmopolitan balance of film that ranges from variety of genres like drama, documentary, animation, comedy, science fiction and mystery.

DBICA is the parent organization of the SFFI. It is a non-profit Media and Communication Arts organization that presents the best in world’s short film cinema to audiences in Chennai. The forthcoming 4th International Short Film Festival of India 2010 will be held on 13th and 14th February 2010.
