The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya has circulated a notice inviting students to participate in a survey on student life at IIT KGP.

Students may submit their evaluation at http://www.dak.iitkgp.ernet.in/survey. In case of a problem with the proxy use http://144.16.206.211/survey. Login using your roll no. as the user ID and your date of birth(in the ddmmyyyy format) as the password. Submit your feedback before 2PM on February 11th Thursday.

The Dean claims that your feedback will go a long way in improving student life on campus.

The Director, Prof. D Acharya, appointed a new Professor-in-Charge for BC Roy Technology Hospital, Dr. Analava Mitra of SMST on 11th November 2009. Dr. Mitra, replacing Professor Gautam Sinha (VGSOM), has taken charge with immediate effect.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has decided to award the Inspire Scholarship to the students of 2007 and 2008 batches, enrolled in the Integrated M.Sc. courses (except Economics). All these students need to submit the required application form to their respective HODs at the earliest. The last date for forwarding those forms by the Heads to the Academic Section is 10.09.2009, which will then submit them to the DST.

Meanwhile, the Scholars’ Avenue had reported about a BOG order (http://www.scholarsavenue.org/2009/03/20/expanded-joint-degree-programmes-approved-int-msc-scholarships/#more-983) last semester that approved stipends for Integrated MSc students in their fourth and fifth years. We are following up on that with the administration. Check back for updates.

The institutes insurance provider has changed to United India Insurance Company Pvt. Ltd. For the time being, students can use their institute ID card to avail the facilities. More details here.

The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law will be inaugurated tomorrow 18th August at 10:15 a.m. coinciding with our institute’s foundation day.
The inauguration will be carried out by Shri R.P. Agrawal, Secretary Higher Education, in the presence of the Director, Prof. Damodar Acharya, Mr. Vinod Gupta and Prof. N.L. Mitra (former Vice Chancellor of NLSIU , Bangalore and Jodhpur and Adviser to RGSOIPL).

Dr. VC Vivekanandan has been appointed the new Dean of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), IIT Kharagpur. He is a leading IPR academic and was head of the IPR programmes at NALSAR, Hyderabad as well as their MHRD IPR chair professor. He is also a visiting faculty at SUNY-Buffalo, ISB-Hyderabad, SVP National Police Academy-Hyderabad, National Academy of Direct Taxes at Nagpur, National Remote Sensing Agency-Hyderabad, Space Application Centre-Ahmedabad, and NLSIU-Bangalore, amongst others.

Dr. Vivekanandan is further noted as an adviser to the Hague Conference on Private International Law on ‘Online Jurisdiction issues on Legal information’ and a member of the prestigious At-Large Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He served as the expert member of the EDGE Foundation of University of Ottawa in drafting the ‘WIPO Development Agenda’ report tabled at the WIPO General Assembly and is a member of the ‘Special Interest Group’ of the Association of Biotech led Enterprises (ABLE) Bangalore. He is also a consultant for the ISTE-ASTE programme for IPR, IPR programs for DSIR, and member of Bioethics committee of the APIDC Venture capital fund.
