Minutes of the meeting with BOG Chairman Mr. B Muthraman

Sports Infrastructure Issues:

1) Mr. Muthuraman assured the allotment of specific funds (some fixed percentage in the total funds allocated to institute) exclusively for sports infrastructure improvement and maintenance every year.

2) Mr. Muthuraman will talk to director and Gymkhana president in regards to networking with State Sports Associations for Coaches and other developments in sports.

3) Mr Muthuraman assured he would take addressing the issue of professional coaches for different sports.

4) In regard with next inter IIT and the one after (to be held in IIT Kharagpur), Mr Muthuraman informed the gathering that he would ask the Gymkhana president to hold meeting with students in the next couple of weeks to discuss the action plan for Inter-IIT.

Prithvi 2010

PRITHVI‘10 is an initiative of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), IIT Kharagpur Students Chapter along with the students of the Department of Geology and Geophysics, being held from 26-28 March, 2010. It is a symposium on:

Geo-Exploration: Its decadal growth and future perspectives

Through PRITHVI, the department aims to promote the spirit of innovation and technology in an environment of healthy competition. Several challenging events, workshops and seminars shall be conducted which will come across as an exciting opportunity for students to explore their talents in their very own field of study. Hence, PRITHVI will not only act as a stimulant to generate interest among the students in Earth sciences, but also give them an incentive to delve into the ocean of knowledge and possibly explore newer realms.

VGSOM Presents MADison Avenue 2010

The Marketing and Advertising Club (MAD Club) of The Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) is conducting MADison Avenue, a marketing and advertising themed fest, this March.

It will be held in two stages – online as well as on campus. The online leg of the fest will kick off on the 6th of March 2010 and the grand finale is scheduled on the 27th of March 2010 on campus.

A wide bouquet of avenues for participation is on offer, spanning various events right from strategy development, case studies to video ad making.

Saamanjasya ‘10

Latest: The deadlines for Parishram and Wired have been extended to 10th March and 18th March respectively.
Saamanjasya ‘10 is a social event being organized by Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur.
Scheduled to be held in the third week of March, Saamanjasya attempts to bring together corporates and NGOs on a common platform to ensure inclusive growth and inculcate a culture of ‘Giving back to the society’ in the youth.
It is in the same spirit that it hosts a plethora of competitions on the theme of sustainable collaboration.

National Seminar on Indian Aesthetics

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kharagpur, is organizing the National Seminar on Indian Aesthetics: Convergences and Divergences. Sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, Delhi (http://icpr.in/), the seminar looks at the evolution of Indian art and its connections, its associations with various other traditions. The programme, to be held from the 26th to the 28th of February, 2010, includes talks by prominent scholars on topics including aesthetics, cinema and photography. Art exhibitions, dance recitals and a film screening are also part of the seminar.
