The main pipe supplying water to the whole campus from the Kangsabati river in Midnapore has burst day before yesterday. The site is crowded with unauthorized buildings which have been built above the pipeline. The work involves the risk of further accidents because the buildings have a tendency to collapse due to ground excavation. Originally the residents had opposed the work but work is now going in full swing with police protection. The work is expected to be completed by today (20th May, ’12) evening. After that it will take quite some hours to fill reservoirs inside the campus and full water supply will be restored by tommorrow morning.In the meantime, students are requested to manage themselves with the makeshift alternative water supply.
