What’s up, AIESEC? A Review
Sun, Apr 18, 2010
AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization with an aim to provide a platform for youth leadership. Having begun its journey in August 2008, AIESEC IIT Kharagpur chapter currently has 38 members on board.
Programs:
Project Genesis was launched by AIESEC, where workshops and conferences were held in and around KGP on AIDS awareness. The project was completed under Prof. S.C Mahapatra, RDC, IIT KGP. For better management of energy consumption in the campus, AIESEC, in association with Ecozen Solutions, a nascent startup by Kgpians, conducted an Energy audit with the help of our own students and some foreign interns. Under the guidance of the Dean, Prof Souvik Bhattacharya (who is a member of AIESEC IIT Kgp’s board of advisors), Earth Hour was observed for the first time in KGP and sufficient publicity was generated for the cause. AIESEC has created awareness about the threat to environment through the “Go Green Campaign” and will shortly launch ‘Think Green’, an online event concerning green architecture and automobiles. Furthermore, AIESEC IIT Kharagpur will be conducting events like Green Business Summit, Prakriti and Global Village under the “Vision Green” campaign.
AIESEC IIT Kharagpur has succeeded in providing eight students of IIT Kharagpur internships to Ukraine, Ivory Coast, Taiwan, Shanghai, Hungary, Jyvaskyla and Switzerland. Five Executive Body Members of the Kgp chapter represented IIT Kgp at the National Congress at Kodaikanal from 16th-22nd January. Some members got to attend The Regional Leadership Development Seminar (RLDS) and the National Trainers’ Conference (NTC) too.
