In an effort to create employment for rural women in BPL families, Gopali Youth Welfare Society will be providing Thonga (paper bag) making training to the mothers of students studying in its school Jagriti Vidya Mandir.  These paper bags will be sold in Tech Market as an eco-friendly substitute for plastic.
The bags will be made out of old newspapers which will be collected from all the halls of residence by GYWS members at the end of January.
The target areas of the Paperkraft initiative are Gopali, Rangamati and surrounding villages and west Midnapore. As of now 20 women have agreed to be part of this initiative.
Don’t throw away your newspapers!
