ASHRAE Student Chapter at IIT Kharagpur

The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is an international technical society consisting of individuals and organizations from the fields of air conditioning, ventilation and heating. India’s first ASHRAE student section is being initiated at IIT Kharagpur this Saturday. The primary focus of this student section would be air conditioning, green building and green technology.

For the inauguration of this student chapter there will a short presentation by Mr Sushil Chowdhury, Managing Director, Blowtech India (also Student activity Chair, ASHRAE India), who will be accompanied by Mr. Prateek Dutta Roy, Eastern Region Technical Head of Blue Star. They are visiting campus to interact with students about budding opportunities pertaining to HVAC and green technologies in the industrial field .

The student chapter will run under the coordination of Prof Shouvik Bhattacharya and Prof Kanchan Choudhury. The seminar is intended to throw light on the benefits of being an ASHRAE student member and the rich industrial exposure that is supplemented with it. The seminar will be held on the 29th of August, 2009 at 12:30 P.M. in the New Seminar Room, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Please find the membership form attached.
