Tech: RP Looks Good to Bag the GC

We are half way through the 2005-06 session, but the third ever Tech. GC is far from even the halfway mark. With 6 out of 8 events to be held in this semester, the fight for the GC has just begun. A good start is half the battle won and the start RP hall have got, with a gold in Tech. quiz and a silver in Pi would do absolutely no harm. HJB, the surprise winners of Pi follow RP’s 135 points with a 100 points in their bag. Azad hall is third(45),closely followed by Patel(40) and Nehru(30).

There is something for the trailing teams to look forward to in the future events, which include two 100 point events (Xi and Opensoft). Both Nehru and Patel had done well(gold and silver respectively), the last time Xi was held(2003-04), but that was two years ago and there has been a change in their teams since then. Azad will be hoping to do well in Bizquiz given that they have a good quizzing team but they will face stiff competition from RP who beat them comprehensively in Techquiz. RP also have an edge in Opensoft wherein they had shared the top spot along with RK last year. Ad-Design and Chi along with Maths Olympiad may turn out to be anybody’s game with no team having a clear advantage beforehand. RK which hasn’t scored till now, can stage a fight back with Bizquiz and Opensoft. The judges are still to decide , whether HJB should lose their gold in Pi because of the plagiarism charges made against them by some other halls. HJB’s loss here will be a huge gain for RP.

In totality, RP looks well on road to the Technology General Championship but they must look out for the bumps ahead. The other teams need to catch up fast!
